Caught in the Eye of the Social Media Storm

“The fear of missing out blurs my vision. Am I enough to live up to the expectations of a world that won't stop moving? I am so lost in the eye of the storm”

- Fit For A King

It's really fucking hard. Social media, seeing things other do, what others have and comparing yourself to them. I have friends that have cars I can only dream about. I have friends that travel the world and see exotic places on a regular basis. I see bros more jacked and leaner than me. I see other coaches with sponsorship deals and their own clothing lines......the fucking list goes on and on.

It's so easy to think like this. Even easier now thanks to the Internet. I think it's even natural and sometimes good to compare ourselves to others.

The problem is when we think or feel lesser of ourselves because of these comparisons. Instead of motivating us to be better, we let these comparisons deflate us and think like a victim. "Why don't I have XYZ?".

Mindset Matters!

Shift your thinking:

1. Be fucking thankful for what you have! Look around and take a second to appreciate what you have accomplished and already have! You're fortunate, blessed, privileged, or whatever you want to call it, in ways others are not. Recognize and appreciate what may seem small and trivial to you. Because I guarantee, it's neither.

2. Use the comparisons to inspire you to what is possible. Be excited for others’ success. Hell, reach out, ask for them to mentor you or at minimum, have some questions you'd like answered and see if they’d be willing. Shit. Some may have already written books on exactly what they did to get where they are! Use the comparisons as an opportunity to learn and grow.

At the end of the day, we all lead different lives and are on different paths. Trying "Keep up with the Joneses" is a sure fire way to NOT reach YOUR full potential in life. Don't get caught in the eye of that storm.
